High four-star 2019 defensive end Zacch Pickens (T.L. Hanna) visited Clemson on Saturday for the game against Troy with four-star teammate Stephon Wynn Jr.
The Clemson Insider recently spoke with Pickens about his experience.
“(I liked) meeting Dabo Swinney,” Pickens said, “and the highlight for me was running up the hill.”
What did Pickens hear from Swinney?
“He told me that I was No. 1 in my class,” Pickens said.
“It was a great feeling to see him,” he added.
Clemson offered Pickens in March. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder said the offer “means a lot.”
“It means a lot to get some recognition from a great team,” Pickens said.
Pickens also has early offers from Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Are there any leaders in his recruitment at this time?
“No sir,” Pickens said.
Pickens isn’t sure what other visits he will take during the season.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 prospect in South Carolina, the nation’s No. 1 strong-side defensive end and the nation’s No. 8 prospect overall in the class of 2019.
