Friday Night Lights

How did Clemson’s commits perform in their games on Friday night?

The Clemson Insider has the latest on those performances here:

Talk about a happy birthday.

On his 17th birthday, Clemson wide receiver commit Amari Rodgers caught eight passes for 251 yards and four touchdowns to lead Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic past Belfry 45-20. Rodgers’ longest touchdown reception was 82 yards, followed by a 52-yarder. Rodgers now has 13 touchdowns on the season.

Oak Ridge (Tenn.) scored 35 points in the first quarter of an eventual 42-10 win over Sevier County, and Tee Higgins was largely responsible for the fast start. Higgins returned two punts for touchdowns of 66 and 53 yards, and also caught a 4-yard touchdown pass — all in the opening quarter.

Quarterback commit Hunter Johnson accounted for 300 yards and four touchdowns for Brownsburg (Ind.) in its 29-28, overtime win against Westfield. Johnson completed 14-of-34 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Johnson’s quarterback sneak for a score in overtime set up a game-winning two-point conversion.

Quarterback commit Chase Brice was on point for Grayson (Ga.) in a 38-0 win against Ramsay. Brice went 8-of-14 through the air for 180 yards and three touchdowns, including a 52-yard scoring pass. Brice connected on his first five passing attempts in the game for 78 yards, and six of his first seven for 99 yards.

Calhoun (Ga.) quarterback and linebacker Baylon Spector was 4-of-5 passing for 19 yards and rushed for 61 yards to help his team defeat North Murray 31-7.

Celebrating his birthday, as well, cornerback commit A.J. Terrell helped Westlake (Ga.) beat Lithonia 25-14. Fellow cornerback commit LeAnthony Williams helped Roswell (Ga.) shut out Archer for a 47-0 victory.

Blake Vinson and North Marion (Citra, Fla.) fell at Gainesville 22-21, while 2018 linebacker commit Mike Jones and IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) blanked Boyd Anderson 38-0.

Cordarrian Richardson, Noah DeHond and their teams had byes this week. Jordan Williams and Frank W. Cox (Virginia Beach, Va.) play at Landstown this afternoon.
