Clemson makes College Football Playoff

Clemson made the College Football Playoff by finishing No. 2 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings that were released on Sunday at noon. It is Clemson’s second straight appearance in the CFP after making it in 2015 and advancing to the national championship game, where it lost to Alabama 45-40.

Clemson will play No. 3 seed Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Ariz. Alabama was ranked No. 1, followed by Clemson at No. 2, Ohio State at No. 3 and Washington at No. 4.

Clemson beat Virginia Tech 42-35 on Saturday night in the ACC championship game. It was the Tigers’ second consecutive ACC Championship, marking the first time they have won back-to-back championships since winning three in a row from 1986-88.

The Tigers moved up to No. 2 after being ranked No. 3 in the previous CFP rankings that came out last Tuesday.
