On Monday, Arp (Texas) four-star safety DeMarvion Overshown became the sixth defensive back from the Lone Star State in the 2018 class to collect an offer from Clemson.
Overshown announced the offer via Twitter on Monday night, and spoke with The Clemson Insider after.
“One of the coaches DMed me,” Overshown said. “It means a lot.”
Overshown is one of the hottest recruits in the country right now, having received offers from nearly a dozen major programs over the last week. UCLA, Oklahoma, Baylor, Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Florida State, Missouri, Clemson and Ohio State have all pulled the trigger since last Wednesday, respectively.
Before the recent surge, Overshown had a handful of Power Five offers from Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas.
“They all stand out to me,” Overshown said of the new offers, “because I’m shocked this is happening.”
After bagging the offer from Clemson, Overshown wants to check out the school in the future.
“I’m going to try and get up there,” he said. “I love the football team. They’re great.”
Overshown is intrigued by Clemson’s new $55 million football operations facility.
“Coach is telling me about it right now,” he said. “It sounds like something I got to see.”
The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder is rated by 247Sports as the No. 12 prospect in Texas, the No. 9 safety nationally and the No. 110 overall prospect in the 2018 class.
He earned second-team all-state honors as a junior in 2016, when he had 153 tackles, six tackles for loss, three interceptions, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
