4-star Michigan athlete has high interest in Clemson

Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech four-star athlete Jaren Mangham has a dozen offers to his name as a sophomore. Mississippi State, Indiana, Michigan State and Arizona are among the programs that have pulled the trigger over the past few months.

A month ago, Mangham visited Clemson for the first time.

“I loved it,” he told The Clemson Insider. “The campus was beautiful with all of the waterfalls and lakes. The facilities were the best I’ve seen so far, and the coaches were outgoing and easy to talk to.”

Mangham said Clemson’s staff expressed interest during the visit, which he made with cornerback teammate Xavier Goldsmith.

“They all loved my playing style,” Mangham said. “They loved my size and versatility on the field.”

Mangham is utilized by Cass Tech as a running back, slot receiver, wide receiver and linebacker. He said Clemson is looking at him as a running back and linebacker.

Cincinnati, Central Michigan, Kentucky and Missouri were first to offer in the spring and summer of 2016.

He has visited Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Bowling Green this year, as well.

After seeing Clemson and seeing what the Tigers did on the field last season, an offer from the defending national champions is on his wish list.

“It would mean a lot,” he said, “especially them coming off that national title victory.”

Mangham is rated by 247Sports as a four-star, and ranked as the No. 17 athlete and No. 168 overall player in the 2019 class.
