Olenchuk commits to Clemson

Rising sophomore pitcher/third baseman Ty Olenchuk has committed to head coach Monte Lee and the Clemson Tigers.

Olenchuk, a highly regarded class of 2020 prospect from Dutch Fork High in Irmo, S.C., announced the news via social media Saturday.

“Proud to say after high school I will continue my baseball career at Clemson University,” Olenchuk wrote in a Twitter post. “Thanks to everyone who helped this happen.”

Florida and South Carolina have shown interest in Olenchuk, who is being recruited by the Tigers as a pitcher.

His brother is Derek Olenchuk, a junior infielder at Newberry College.
