Clemson signee Keating drafted by Padres

Right-handed pitcher Sam Keating, who has signed with Clemson for the 2018 season, was drafted in the fourth round in the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday. Keating was selected 108th overall, just two picks after current Tiger pitcher Charlie Barnes.

Keating is one of the top prospects signed by Monte Lee in Clemson’s 2018 recruiting class. He was the first prospective Tiger to be selected in this year’s MLB Draft. The Fort Myers, FL native, who played his prep baseball at Canterbury School, was ranked 120th among all draftable prospects by Baseball America. Slot value for the 108th overall selection is $497,000.
