Raffield: ‘Clemson is a great program’

One of the nation’s top pitchers for 2018, Carter Raffield, spoke with The Clemson Insider Thursday evening to discuss his huge commitment to the Tigers.

“Clemson has always been one of my top schools,” the elite pitcher said. “I love the facilities and the coaching staff. Clemson is a great program. The decision wasn’t easy.  I prayed about it a lot and talked to my family. I just felt like Clemson was the best path for me.”

Lee was thrilled to get the news earlier Thursday night from the right hander.

“It sounded like he was pretty happy. I felt like he was excited and so was I,” said Raffield.

North Carolina, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia Southern and College of Charleston are other schools that the Georgia standout considered.

“He is a great coach.  I feel like he has done a real good job with the program.  I kno I am going into a great program with a great coach.  I am excited,” said Raffield.

Carter has three strong pitches and can bring some heat from the mound.

“I throw in the low 90’s.  I throw a good fastball, curve ball and slider,” said Raffield.

Although Carter is one of the top 2018 players in the nation his current plan is to attend college.

“My plan right now is to go to college.  Whatever God’s plan is for me I will follow,” said Raffield.
