4-star Florida commitment previews Clemson visit

After landing an offer from the Tigers last month, Largo (Fla.) 2019 four-star defensive lineman Jaquaze Sorrells is set to check out Clemson on Friday.

“I booked my flight,” Sorrells told The Clemson Insider. “It will be my first visit (to Clemson), and I’m ready to see a different atmosphere.”

Sorrells has been committed to Florida since June 2016, when the Gators gave him his first offer. He remains solid on his pledge but is keeping an open mind with his other options and visiting other schools.

So, he wants to learn more about what Clemson has to offer.

“I just know I’m going into the visit with an open mind,” Sorrells said, “and basically just to learn Clemson history, along with everything that Clemson University brings to the table education wise, and long-term things.”

From what he knows right now, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney piques his interest.

“The love and passion Dabo shows to his Clemson family,” Sorrells said.

Clemson offered Sorrells (6-3, 250) on June 16, joining Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, N.C. State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech among others on his offer sheet.

Where do the Tigers stack up heading into the visit?

“They stand in good position,” Sorrells said.

As he evaluates his college choices, Sorrells is searching for the school that can best help him succeed in not only football, but also life after.

“The most important thing is would I still have a nice promising future if football doesn’t work out?” he said.

Sorrells most recently visited Florida last weekend for its Friday Night Lights recruiting event. He said he might make a visit to Michigan soon, as well.
