Clemson makes final five for top-ranked tight end

Missouri City (Texas) Ridge Point four-star tight end Mustapha Muhammad, one of the top-ranked players at his position in the 2018 class, announced the five finalists his recruitment on Thursday morning.

Clemson made his final five, along with LSU, Michigan, Texas and UCLA.

Muhammad, who has more than 30 offers, previously had a top 10 of Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.

Muhammad (6-4, 235) received an offer from Clemson in April 2016 and visited Clemson in January for its junior day.

He recently set an official visit to Clemson for Nov. 11, when the Tigers host Florida State.

“They have a really good offense, and I feel like I fit well, and they also have an amazing game-day atmosphere,” Muhammad said of why he put Clemson in his top five.

Muhammad is ranked by ESPN as the nation’s No. 3 tight end and a top-50 prospect regardless of position.

As a junior last season, he recorded 29 receptions for 430 yards and four touchdowns.
