4-star RB has eyes on Clemson

One running back that earned a spot in the recently released ESPN Junior 300 rankings for the 2019 class is Travis Tisdale. The Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes four-star checks in as the seventh-ranked running back on the list and the No. 93 overall prospect.

Tisdale (5-9, 166) received his first offer from LSU in February before adding an offer from Ole Miss in April. Clemson and Auburn, among other programs, are showing interest.

“I’ve been receiving mail from Clemson, and I talked to the coach from Auburn (Gus Malzahn),” Tisdale told TCI.

Tisdale was invited to visit Clemson for the spring game in April, and he made the trip to Death Valley with his father.

“I would love to visit again,” Tisdale said. “The spring game was an awesome experience, especially for my first visit.”

Clemson running backs coach Tony Elliott expressed to Tisdale his interest in what the young runner has to offer, calling him “smooth.”

During the visit, the two began to kindle a relationship.

“I thought he was down-to-earth, and I would love to meet him again,” Tisdale said.

Tisdale opened Elliott’s eyes as a sophomore last season, when he rushed for 1,029 yards on 130 carries (7.9-yard average) and 16 touchdowns.

It’s safe to say Clemson opened the eyes of Tisdale, as well, during its victory over Alabama in January’s national championship game.

“I love the way they play their game and their history, how they brought the national championship back home against Alabama and how they went on a huge roll last year,” Tisdale said. “I just love their intensity.”

Along with Clemson, Tisdale cited Auburn and North Carolina as school he is looking to get offers from moving forward in his recruiting process.

Tisdale was an honorable mention all-state performer on the gridiron last season. Also a track star, the speedster won the 100 meters in two events and placed in the top three two other times for Lowndes track and field team as a freshman in 2015.
