Although Clemson has some uncertainties at quarterback going into this season, one thing is for sure, they are already on the trail to find the best suited offensive lineman to protect him.
One of those lineman could be 2019 recruit Michael Tarquin. The Belleview (Fla.) High product stands at a sound 6-foot-5, 290 pounds and is one of the top 200 players in the country in the 2019 class.
Tarquin told The Clemson Insider he plans on visiting Clemson, Miami, Florida, Michigan, South Carolina and possibly Florida State for games this fall. As of now, he said he should be in Death Valley for the Auburn game on Sept. 9 and is looking forward to experiencing a Clemson game day.
“The game day experience, I have yet to be there for a real game,” he said.
Tarquin said Clemson is currently showing the most interest in him, and looks to be his favorite school so far.
“I’d say Clemson,” he said. “The Clemson family…the coaches genuinely care about their players and the football speaks for itself, heck of a team.”
Tarquin said the Tigers have a good chance at staying one of his favorites when he commits after this football season, he “just has to give everyone else he’s considering that last look.”
While taking his visits this fall, Tarquin has three main criteria for evaluating his ideal school.
“How do I like the coaches, how do I like the players, and is this a place that I get the gut feeling that I should go there,” he said.
Tarquin also told TCI he talks with Clemson coach Robbie Caldwell and that their conversations have positively shaped his mental image of the Tigers.
“We talk about life and we talk about the team,” he said. “I love Coach Caldwell and I love Clemson.”
While he still has a decent amount of time left in his recruitment, leaving plenty of room for other schools to establish a relationship, Tarquin can see himself fitting in with Clemson’s offensive scheme.
“I see myself fitting in well…from the film Coach Caldwell showed me,” he said.
