While Trevor Lawrence once again lit up his opponent on Friday night, we’re gonna go ahead and stick with the defensive trend that helped the Tigers lock up their 14-6 victory over Auburn on Saturday night.
Clemson defensive tackle commit Darnell Jefferies looked like he was ready to suit up and help stuff the line on Friday night, racking up seven tackles, two for a loss, and a fumble recovery as his team toppled Peachtree Ridge (Ga.) 47-28.
The 6-foot-2, 275-pound tackle has the size and athleticism to come in and possibly contribute right away next year, especially if he continues to develop and flash these kinds of stats.
The Newton (Ga.) standout is just one of Clemson’s several top recruits from Georgia in the class of 2018, which looks to be one of the best in the nation if they can tack on a couple more high-profile recruits.
Jefferies looks to be a solid addition to the Tigers’ D-line that swallowed up Jarrett Stidham and the Auburn offense, limiting them to only six points and 117 total yards. While Jefferies may not quite have the size that Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins have, he does have the quickness to cut in between blocks and stuff running lanes.
