Friday Night Lights

How did Clemson’s commitments fare in their games on Friday night? The Clemson Insider has you covered with the top performances from future Tigers in Week 7:

Clemson five-star commit Trevor Lawrence had a happy 18th birthday on Friday. The Cartersville (Ga.) quarterback threw for six touchdowns — all in the first half — as he led his team to a 56-0 win at LaGrange (Ga.).

Lawrence completed 15 of his 17 first-half passes for 235 yards, including touchdown passes of 57, 51, 35, 31, 10 and 5 yards. The senior spread the ball around, with four different receivers recording at least one touchdown reception. It marked the 37th consecutive victory for Cartersville, which improved to 7-0 on the season.

Clemson commits Derion Kendrick and B.T. Potter remain undefeated, as well, as their South Pointe (Rock Hill, S.C.) team improved to 7-0 with a 48-7 rout at Westwood (Blythewood, S.C.).

Kendrick helped lead his team to victory with both his arm and his legs. The Clemson wide receiver commit, who plays quarterback for the Stallions, connected on a 42-yard touchdown pass and scored on an 8-yard touchdown run as well.

Potter, meanwhile, scored 12 total points and got it done from long-distance with field goals of 45 and 35 yards.

Clemson defensive back commit Kyler McMichael, who sees a lot of action at running back for Greater Atlanta Christian (Norcross, Ga.), was outstanding in his squad’s 59-0 romp over East Hall (Gainesville, Ga.). The Spartans scored six touchdowns, and McMichael ran for half of them. Two of his rushing touchdowns were big-gainers of 70 and 37 yards.

Other scores of note: Clemson commits Mike Jones, Xavier Thomas and IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) beat Venice (Fla.) by a score of 38-12. Defensive tackle commit Josh Belk and Lewisville (Richburg, S.C.) lost to Lamar (S.C.), 30-6, while linebacker commit Jake Venables and Daniel (Central, S.C.) fell to Ninety-Six (S.C.), 23-17.

Clemson defensive end commit Justin Mascoll and South Gwinnett (Snellville, Ga.) had a bye this week. Defensive tackle commit Darnell Jefferies and Newton (Covington, Ga.) have a home game against Archer (Lawrenceville, Ga.) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
