Clemson linebacker James Skalski found out this past Monday he was going to get his first start at middle linebacker due to injuries to Kendall Joseph and Chad Smith.
The sophomore did not disappoint in the Tigers’ 61-3 victory over The Citadel on Saturday in Death Valley. Skalski led the second-ranked Tigers with a career-high nine tackles, including one tackle for loss.
After the game, Skalski spoke about his performance as well as next Saturday’s game against rival South Carolina.
“It’s personal,” the linebacker said about the Gamecocks. “But it’s the next game.”
“I think we all kind of knew what to expect from this game,” Skalski continued. “We took care of business and we were real mature about it, but next week is personal.”
