DeVoe, Thomas bounce back to help Clemson win

On a night when starting point guard Shelton Mitchell was injured, guard Marcquise Reed was in foul trouble and forward Donte Grantham was being covered up, Clemson got career nights from shooting guard Gabe DeVoe and center Eli Thomas in Friday’s 84-77 victory over Texas Southern.

Thomas scored a career-high 26 points to go along with a career-high 16 rebounds, while DeVoe was nearly perfect from the floor. The senior made 8-of-9 shots overall and was a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the three-point line.

DeVoe finished the game with a career-high 21 points. His five three-pointers were also a career high. He also had two assists and four rebounds in the win.

It was a great bounce back performance after both players struggled in the Tigers’ loss to Temple this past Sunday.
