CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Clemson jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a 4-yard touchdown run from f running back Travis Etienne with 10:36 to go in the first quarter. The Tigers went on a commanding 10-play, 68-yard drive that used 4:24 of clock.
The Miami defense came out trying to disguise coverages and confuse Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant. Bryant made several impressive reads including a 13-yard pass to Hunter Renfrow to extend the drive on third down. The Tigers’ drive was well balanced with four passes and six rushing plays, including Etienne’s touchdown run.
