Elite DB discusses getting offer he was waiting on, from Clemson
On Thursday, Clemson extended an offer to the No. 1-ranked prospect in Massachusetts and one of the top overall prospects in the country for the 2019 class.
Four-star safety Lewis Cine of Everett (Mass.) High found out about his latest offer when he spoke on the phone with Clemson safeties coach Mickey Conn.
“He told me they are really interested in me,” Cine told The Clemson Insider, “and he wants to be the guy who coaches me.”
Cine (6-2, 180) has collected nearly 30 scholarship offers midway through his junior year. His complete sheet features Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame, Florida, Oklahoma and others.
Though he has a bevy of big-time offers already, Cine said Clemson’s offer is one he coveted.
“It was something I was waiting for man,” he said. “It was an incredible feeling.”
What stands out to him about the Tigers?
“I like that they are some dogs in all aspects of the game and I see myself being a part of that,” Cine said. “I know a couple (things) about the football play, I just have to do my studies on the academics.”
After earning the offer, Cine is excited to check out Clemson in the future.
“I haven’t visited yet, but I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.
A few other schools have Cine’s attention as well and are high on his list at this stage of his recruiting process.
“Penn State, Oklahoma, Michigan are standing out,” he said.
Cine hopes to have made his decision by the start of his senior season.
As a junior, Cine helped pace Everett to an undefeated season and the Massachusetts Division I state title.
Cine is unanimously ranked as the top prospect in his state, a top-five safety and top-100 overall prospect in the 2019 class.
