Harman Eighth Inning Fire

Clemson junior Casey Harman pitched the game of his life Saturday night in the biggest game of the year for the Tigers. The most impressive part of the performance may have been the final two outs of the eighth innning.

The Tigers held a 5-1 lead, but Auburn had two on and one out thanks to a reversal by the home plate umpire. The umpire originally ruled that the pitch had hit the bat, not the batter. After Auburn head coach John Pawlowski came out and argued and after the umpire checked under the glove of the batter the call was reversed.

Head coach Jack Leggett stormed out of the first base dugout and showed fire that he has not shown all season.

While coach Leggett and the umpire argued, catcher Spencer Kieboom and Casey Harman talked.

After things settled down Harman showed the heart of a champion. The Auburn crowd was as loud as they had been all night. Casey went on to strikeout the next two batters in the key inning of the game.
