Gore Commits to Clemson

Clemson added another commitment Thursday when Joe Gore gave his verbal commitment to the Tigers.

“Yes sir, he is a Clemson Tiger.  He told coach Swinney that he is All In,” East Columbus coach Travis Connor told TheClemsonInsider.com.

“He is a great player. His length and speed are phenomenal.  He really gets off the ball really well. He will be a great player for Clemson,” said coach Connor.

What type of person is Joe off the field?

“You won’t ever find a better kid than Joe Gore.  I tell the college coaches when they come through that I have three small children and I would not hesitate for him to babysit my children,” replied coach Connor.

What sold Joe on Clemson?

“Coach Rrooks has done a great job with him. He had a great visit there this weekend. He spent a lot of time with coach Rumph and coach Brooks. Sunday he spent over an hour with coach Swinney.  The biggest thing is that Clemson is a college town.  There is nothing there but Clemson. That appealed to him.  I think the academic support staff was very key to him.  He was really impressed that the academic support folks took their time out and spent time with Joe and some others from North Carolina.  He knew he would be taken care of with the academic support guys,” replied coach Connor.

The 6-6, 260 pound lineman plays both ways for East Columbus High in Lake Waccamaw, NC but the Tigers like him at defensive end.

The offer list is impressive for the prize recruit who claims over 30 offers.  Offers include South Carolina, Texas Tech, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, West Virginia among others.

The top defender plans to enroll early at Clemson.

Gore becomes the 13th commitment for the Tigers for the class of 2011.
