Clemson fans can hardly wait for 2011 verbal commit RB Mike Bellamy to show up on campus.   Bellamy is a very highly rated back out of Punta Gorda, Florida and has received interest from pretty much every school in the country.  Luckily for Tiger fans he chose Clemson.

“Clemson has great coaches, great fans and everyone there loves football.  It is a small town, similar to my town where, and I would have to travel pretty far to get myself into trouble,” said Bellamy.

Every few weeks it seems you hear rumors of Mike possibly switching his commitment or looking at other schools, the 5’10” 170 lbs. running back laughed at those suggestions.

“I am 200% committed to Clemson,” said Bellamy.

Surprisingly the person that swayed Mike to Clemson was not a coach, but Mrs. Swinney, Dabo’s wife.

The standout running back is dominating so far; he has 15 TDs and 800-900 yards in four games and had 13 carries for 279 yards and 5 Tds in his most recent game.

“I am just trying to prove to everyone that I should be the number one rated running back in the nation.  I also want to prove that the best players don’t always go to the SEC,” said Bellamy.

Unfortunately, Mike will not be up for the Miami game this weekend.

“I was going to come up, but we have a big game this weekend and my coach doesn’t want me going to this one.  I’ll be up for the next one though,” said Bellamy.

Mike is a speedy, highly rated running back out of Florida, which is exactly how people described CJ Spiller 5 years ago.  Many fans are hoping that Mike can come in and be the next CJ Spiller.  What does Mike think of that comparison?

“It’s great because he was a great player, but I don’t want to be labeled as the next CJ Spiller or come in and worry about breaking all of his records.  I just want to be myself, when I come it is all business,” said Bellamy.
