Clemson, Sc—Corbin Mills led three Tigers who posted under par rounds on Sunday to and Clemson finished in seventh place finish at The Brickyard Invitational in Macon , GA. Clemson fired a 281 team score on Sunday, third best in the field of 15 teams and 20 shots better than the Tigers shot on Saturday. It was Clemson’s best team round of the year.
Sixth ranked Georgia won the event with an 857 team score, one shot better than third-ranked Augusta State , who shot a 13 under par round of 275 on Sunday, best by any team in the field for the tournament. Clemson finished seventh with an 873 score, just two shots out of fifth-place Mississippi .
Clemson had a great finish to the round by shooting a combined five under par on their final hole, the ninth, allowing the Tigers to jump from 10th place to seventh.
Mills had a round of 69 on Sunday to finish at 213 for the tournament, three under par. He had an opening round 69 and a final round 69 sandwiched around a second round 75. All the Tigers struggled on Saturday as the team’s best round was McCuen Elmore’s 74. Mills finished eighth at the event and was Clemson’s best golfer for the second straight event.
David Dannelly also had a 69 on Sunday, including and eagle three on his final hole, the ninth hole on the course. Dannelly had rounds of 77-75-69 to finish with a 221 score, 33rd place.
McCuen Elmore also had an under par round with a 71 on Sunday. The junior had rounds of 74-74-71 to finish 25th with a 54-hole score of 221.
Jacob Burger was Clemson’s fourth player with a score of par or better on Sunday as the junior from Orangeburg had an even-par 72 thanks to a birdie on his final hole. Burger had rounds of 79-77-72 for a 228 total.
Sophomore Mike Muscatell played in his first event of the year and had a 227 score for the 54 holes and finished 50th in the field. He did contribute a strong 71 in the opening round.
Brewer Bradshaw played as an individual at the Brickyard and finished with a 218 score for the three rounds, good enough for 21st place. He had rounds of 77-70-71.
