Ellington Injury Worse Than Expected

By

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney announced Sunday night that Andre Ellington’s injury is worse than originally expected.

Biggest is Andre Ellington. Thought it was turf toe. They did MRI, he will be out a few weeks. He has a strained ligament.  We have to let that settle down. He is out for sure at least a couple of weeks.

“The biggest injury is Andre Ellington.  We thought it was turf toe, but we did an MRI today and found out he also has a strained ligament.  It is causing him a lot of pain.  He is out for sure for a couple of weeks,” said Swinney.

Ellington has rushed for 684 yards on 166 carries, an average of 5.9 yards per carry, through the first half of Saturday’s loss. Ellington also led the ACC in all purpose yards with 1031 yards total heading into the match up with Boston College.  Junior Jamie Harper will step in as the Tiger’s number one running back with redshirt freshman Roderick McDowell expected to see some snaps as well.
