Napier the Next Furman Head Coach?

Saturday Furman announced that head football coach Bobby Lamb is resigning his position effective Saturday afternoon.  Could Clemson offensive coordinator Billy Napier be the next Furman head coach?

Napier played for Furman from 1999-2002.  Billy was a two-time captain as the starting quarterback and still holds the Paladin career record for completion percentage at 64.8 percent and is third all-time in passing yards.

Coach Napier has previously stated that one of his goals is to one day be the head coach at Furman.

Athletic Director Gary Clark said there is not timeframe for hiring the next Furman head coach.

“It is our intent to conduct a nationwide search for our next head football coach,” said Clark.

Time will tell if coach Napier will be hired as the next head coach at Furman, but it is certainly something that should be watched closely over the next few weeks.
