Furman Gets Permission to Talk to Napier

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney confirmed following Monday’s practice that he has granted Furman permission to speak with Billy Napier.

Dabo said that Furman can talk with Billy one week after the regular season is completed.

As TCI reported Saturday morning coach Napier is one of the leading candidates to take the head coaching job at Furman.  Coach Napier was a two-time captain and played quarterback for Furman.

Coach Napier has not commented on the position at this point.

Coach Swinney also said that Andre Ellington did not practice Monday, but did some running on the side.  Ellington’s status for the South Carolina game will be determined later this year.
