Thankful to Be a Tiger

By Georgia Anderson.

Thanksgiving break brought with it some much-anticipated time at home.  And while it may have been a short break for the Rally Cats, it was not short enough to keep me from eating lots of thanksgiving food and spending some quality time with the family.  But with so much to look forward to in Clemson this weekend, I couldn’t possibly want to stay home any longer!

The big weekend starts Friday at 5:00 pm in the Amphitheatre with the Clemson-USC pep rally, “Cocky’s Funeral.” In addition to the Rally Cats being in attendance, the cheerleaders and Tiger will be there, and Colonel Edge will deliver Cocky’s eulogy.  Shortly after, at 7:00 pm in Little John, the Tiger Basketball team will take on SC State.   Since I’m sure there will be lots of fans in Clemson this weekend, I hope to see Little John filled up and rockin’.  And last but certainly not least, Saturday at 7:00 pm is the annual Clemson vs. Carolina football game.

I am SO excited that the game is in Death Valley and even more excited that I get to dance at it.  Not only is it at home, but it is also the first night game of the season.  Which means that if it is anything like last year’s night game against FSU, I can say without a doubt that it will be my favorite game of the season to dance.  I’m anticipating a packed stadium, a fired up football team, and watching the Tiger’s slaughter some Gamecocks.

As far the Rally Cats are concerned, we’re preparing for the anticipated 30-degree temperatures.  We’re planning to bundle up and dance our hearts out despite the cold weather.  For our senior captains, Kelly Walker and Erin Ledford, it’s an especially big game.  It will be their last time dancing in Death Valley after four years of being dedicated Rally Cats.  They have done so much for the team this football season and I know they will continue to hold us together through the upcoming basketball season.

While I’m still in the Thanksgiving mindset, I can’t help but think of all I’m blessed with.  That being said, I’m so thankful to be given the privilege of being a Rally Cat, for every teammate I have and our amazing captains, for my supportive family and friends, for our hardworking football team and coaches, and most of all … SO thankful that I’m a Clemson Tiger fan and always will be! Go Tigers!
