By Eric MacLain.
Clemson offense has completely changed over the past two years because of the playmaking ability of their tight ends. The Tigers are bringing in another playmaker for the future in tight end Eric MacLain. Eric is a big tight end at 6’5” 270 lbs. and some recruiting sites have him listed as an offensive lineman, that will not be the case at Clemson however.
“Well everyone has an opinion; as far as myself and Clemson are concerned I will be playing tight end,” said MacLain.
Eric would like to, but will not be able to enroll early to Clemson.
“I can’t, the way school is setup I would miss the enrollment date for the second semester,” said MacLain.
What does the standout tight end from Jack Britt High School think about Clemson’s incoming recruiting class and Clemson’s future?
“I’m exhilarated! I think this class and the past years classes are going to be amazing at Clemson. We are all starting to know each other very well. Special things are going to happen in Death Valley!”
How did the high school season go for Eric and how did he do stat wise?
“It didn’t go as we wanted, we finished 11-2. I had 26 catches, 400 yards, 7 TDs, 50+ tackles, 9 sacks, 1 interception, 5 fumble recoveries and 14 punts 46 yard average.”
What will he miss most?
“My coach always said ‘this is the last year of fun football’ so I guess that is what I will miss most. Now it is strictly business.”
