The Clemson coaching staff has done an outstanding job getting recruits from Florida, whether it is CJ Spiller, DeAndre McDaniels or the four outstanding incoming 2011 verbal commits.  2012 looks to be no different with highly rated athlete Travis Blanks already taking an interest in Clemson,

“I visited for the Miami-Clemson game, Clemson has a family atmosphere, and I have a good relationship with Coach Scott.  Coach Scott just talks about how he wants me up there. He’s recruiting me to play DB. Not sure if that means Safety or Cornerback.  But I’m just putting it out that I want to play corner not safety.”

The standout athlete has played WR, FS and CB for his high school team.

Travis has already received 12 scholarships, including one from Clemson, but says it will be Clemson’s junior day that he will be visiting,

“I will be coming to the Clemson junior day in January. I don’t know where else I’m going to be visiting yet.”

Although the Florida native will be making his second visit he does not have a top school,

“I have no favorites right now. I am just weighing all of my options.”

What is the most important thing for the 6’1 ½”  195 lbs (4.49 in the 40) athlete?

“Having a chance to contribute early, and a school that will let me play corner”

How did Travis’ junior year finish up?

“It was my best year statistically, but not what I expected from a team standpoint.  I had 104 tackles and 4 interceptions. I don’t know what I had offensively, but I had 9 TD’s.”
