According to several sources Chad Morris will be the next offensive coordinator at Clemson. After interviewing on Monday and Tuesday the offensive coordinator from Tulsa became the leading candidate.
An official announcement is not expected from the Clemson until the background check has been completed and the hiring process is complete.
Morris should be on campus this week and in place in time for Clemson’s big official visit weekend on January 14.
Morris remained the leader all week. Coach Swinney interviewed a second candidate, TCU co-offensive coordinator Justin Fuente, on Friday and quickly moved to close the deal with Morris on Saturday.
Tulsa had one of the top offenses in the nation in 2010 under Morris. The Golden Hurricanes finished eighth in scoring offense, 13th in passing and 15th in rushing nationally.
Morris is expected to bring the spread offense to Clemson. The new offense should be a great fit for the outstanding recruiting class the Tigers are expected to sign in February.
