TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with Clemson verbal commitment Colton Walls as he prepares to take his official visit.

Before the interview Colton gave us his prediction for the BCS National Championship game.

“I am thinking Auburn,” said Walls.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney had an in-home with his future linebacker.

“Over the break coach Swinney and coach Pearman came by the house.   They talked about the season.  They talked about how good our recruiting class is.  They said they are looking forward to getting me down there in July,” said Walls.

With the Tigers in the Queen City Colton didn’t miss the chance to see Meineke Car Care Bowl.

“I went to the game.  It was fun to watch.  The defense played well.  There were some good hits,” said Walls.

Colton also got by to watch the Tigers practice in his hometown.

“I was able to catch the end of one of the practices,” said Walls.

The top linebacker got to know one of his future teammates during the Shrine Bowl.

“I got to play with Stanton Seckinger in the private school Shrine Bowl.  It was good to get to know him,” said Walls.

While waiting on a workout plan from Clemson, Colton is working out with his father, former NFL great Wesley Walls.

“I have asked the coaches for a workout plan, but they can’t give that to me until after signing day.  My dad is taking me to workout.  We are running fields and lifting.  He only gives me Saturday afternoons and Sundays off.  The rest of the week he has me working out,” said Walls.

This weekend Colton and his family will travel to Clemson for his official visit.

“I am going this weekend for my official visit.  I can’t wait to get there,” said Walls.

The Charlotte Latin standout plans to be in Clemson for the second summer session.

“I will be down there in early July,” said Walls.
