Ammon Lakip joined the Tiger’s top ten recruiting class when he gave his commitment to head coach Dabo Swinney Sunday morning during his official visit.
“I just figured that since I had the opportunity to come here and play soccer and then the opportunity to play football it was something I couldn’t pass up,” said Lakip.
Sunday morning Ammon gave head coach Dabo Swinney the good news.
“I told coach Swinney this morning. He was real excited. I shook his hand. There were some claps here and there,” said Lakip.
The Georgia standout enjoyed his official visit to Clemson.
“It was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed being around the guys and seeing everything,” said Lakip.
Lakip had narrowed his leaders to Clemson and Georgia Tech before taking his official visit to Clemson this weekend.
“I am glad it is over. I am glad to be a Tiger,” said Lakip.
Ammon had an impressive senior season where he hit 14-20 field goals. He was also 2-3 from 50 plus including a 51 yarder and a 50 yarder in the playoffs. Over 80 percent of his kickoffs were touchbacks and he was 64-65 on PATs.
Lakip becomes the 23rd commitment for the Tiger’s 2011 class.
