CLEMSON, SC- The nationally ranked #11 Clemson Women’s tennis team defeated the University of Memphis 4-0 and the University of South Carolina Upstate 5-0 on Saturday at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center. These victories helped improve the Tigers record to 3-0. 

Laurianne Henry and Kerri Wong started things off against Memphis with an 8-6 win over Stephanie Mikesz and Mariya Slupska. The Tigers defeated Memphis in all three doubles matches and later Wong and freshman Klara Vyskocilova went on to defeat USC Upstate’s flight one doubles team of Talia Rojas and Ana Sofia Camberos with a score of 8-1. 

Maria Belaya and Caroline Magnusson won both of their doubles matches today with an 8-6 
victory over Courtney Collins and Kelly Gray of Memphis. Later in the day Belaya and Magnusson 
defeated USC Upstate’s Catherine Estupinon and Karen Martinez with a score of 8-2. 
Kerri Wong, the # 48 nationally ranked singles player, won both of her matches today. In the 
morning she defeated Courtney Collins of Memphis with a 6-0, 6-4 score. Against USC Upstate’s
Talia Rojas later that evening, Wong came away with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. 
Maria Belaya also swept both of her singles matches on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-0 victory 
over Kelly Gray of Memphis and a 6-1, 6-0 win over USC Upstate’s Ana Sofia Camberos.  Freshman
 Klara Vyskovilova won her only singles match of the day with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Memphis’s 
Mariya  Slupska to clinch the first victory of the day for the Tigers. The three remaining single
s matches were stopped early due to the start of the Clemson Men’s Tennis match vs. Davidson. 
In the match against USC Upstate, Magnusson defeated Catherine Estupinon 6-0, 6-1 to start it off
 for the Tigers in singles scoring. Next Nelly Ciolkowski sealed the deal for the Tigers with a 
6-3, 6-2 victory over USC Upstate’s Karen Martinez.  
“I really thought the girls played well today,” Clemson’s Head Coach Nancy Harris said after the 
Tiger’s defeat of USC Upstate. “Since our win last night against Troy we’ve gotten progressively 
better in every match and I only hope that continues throughout the remainder of the season.” 

The Tigers will return to play on Tuesday with another double header as they face Charleston

Southern at 1:00 PM and Winthrop at 5:00 PM.  Admission is free to both of these matches.
