Clemson will be looking to add some depth to the offensive line in the coming year. In-state standout Patrick Destefano has been a player on the coaching staff’s radar for some time now; unfortunately they are one of many looking to get the Dorman standout. The versatile 6’6” 275 lbs lineman once favored Clemson, but after garnering attention from schools around the country, where does he stand now?
“You know I can’t tell you if Clemson is my top school anymore. I know it is right up there at the top,” replied Destefano.
How has the increase in recruiting attention been?
“It’s been great, I have been blessed as far as recruiting goes. It’s gotten crazy after the season started everything exploded, even though I am getting recruited, I got to keep working to get better every day and not focus on it,” replied Destefano.
Any visits on the horizon for the standout lineman from Dorman?
“I already went to Duke’s junior day and plan on visiting Clemson, USC, Stanford, Tennessee, Penn State, and hopefully Norte Dame. Right now I have 10 offers and expect two more to be coming from Wisconsin and Penn State,” replied Destefano.
What goes on at a junior visit?
“The visits really involve learning about both the athletic side and academic side of the schools. It is important to know what you’ll be doing the other 100 plus days when you’re not playing football,” said Destefano.
What does he think of Clemson’s new coaches?
“I have been talking with the new offensive coordinator, Coach Morris, but haven’t had the chance to talk to (new offensive line coach) Coach Caldwell. I am looking forward to talking to him on my visit there which should be soon,” said Destefano.
When does the standout lineman see himself making a decision?
“Well it’s going to be before December 2011, because I am going to be enrolling early wherever I go. I have taken some AP classes and will be able to graduate early, so I want to get up to wherever I go and start practicing with the big boys,” said Destefano.
