All-American Region Excited about Visit

Under Armour All-American offensive lineman Spencer Region can’t wait to get to Clemson for his official visit this weekend.  Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris already has made a good impression on the prize recruit.

“I promise you.  We are ready for me to get to Clemson.  I am just ready to see Clemson.  I have heard so many good things about Clemson.  I am ready to see what they have to offer,” said Region.

The top lineman will be bringing lots of family with him on the visit.

“I am bringing my mom, aunt, brother, his wife and my little sister,” said Region.

Two Clemson coaches visited with Spencer earlier this week.

“Coach Morris and coach Harbison came by.  They just wanted to get a feel for me.  It was the first time I got to talk with coach Morris.  They feel real comfortable in my ability to come in and compete for a job early.  Nothing is guaranteed.  I don’t want them to guarantee me a spot.  I know I will have to work for it.  They told me I have a great shot to come in and play early.  Coach Morris told me he has no problem playing a true freshman if they are better than the other player.  That is one thing I like about coach Morris,” said Region.

Spencer can’t wait to meet head coach Dabo Swinney.

“I am ready to meet coach Swinney.  He is an Alabama native.  He is real excited to have me come up there.  He grew up only an hour away.  He knows a lot of people back here,” said Region.

Why did it take so long for Clemson to start recruiting Spencer?

“My big thing was that I was committed to Auburn so soon in the process so I was not recruited as hard.  Then I talked to coach Harbison and told him I was open to any school as long as they gave me the best chance at becoming a great offensive lineman.  They started recruiting me hard after that,” replied Region.

What are the chances he pulls the trigger on a commitment this weekend?

“I really don’t know. I am just coming up to relax, see Clemson and have a good time.  If I feel right about it I could go ahead and tell them but wait to announce on signing day.  I don’t know what I will do.  Right now I am undecided and may wait until signing day,” replied Region.

The Alabama standout knows he will be a Tiger, the only question is which one.

“I am down to Clemson and Auburn.  I feel both are great programs.  I can’t go wrong with either one.  The good news is either team I play for I will get to play against the other.   That will be fun.  It was a great game this year between the two.  It will be great to play in a big game like Clemson and Auburn,” said Region.

Although there are many that want him to stay in-state, that won’t factor into his decision.

“When it comes down to it I am going to do what is best for Spencer and his family,” said Region.
