Don't Forget Us - Playmakers on the Way

With Clemson still in strong contention for two 5-star linebackers and several other top prospects, the focus over the last few weeks has been on who the Tigers will add to their top ten recruiting class.  Regardless of who the Tigers add, they already have three of the nation’s top players signing on Wednesday that will give the offense a major infusion of talent.

5-star receivers Charone Peake and Sammy Watkins along with 5-star running back Mike Bellamy will sign with the Tiger on Wednesday.  Peake and Watkins give the Tigers two of 2011’s top five receivers.  Mike Bellamy gives the Tigers one of the top five running backs in the nation.  This collection of playmakers is arguably the best offensive recruiting class ever for the Tigers.

Charone Peake has been compared to Georgia All-American A.J. Green, although he has better speed.  Some of compared Sammy Watkins to former Florida All-American Percy Harvin.  The Clemson staff believes Mike Bellamy compares with former Clemson All-American C.J. Spiller.  Do you have chill bumps yet?  If not you might want to visit the doctor.

Peake brings an unusual combination of size and great speed.  The 6-4, 205 pound US Army All-American committed early to the Tigers and never wavered on his commitment.  Peake helped lead Dorman to the state championship his junior season and let they came up just short this season.

Watkins is a 6-1, 180 pound speedster who was also a US Army All-American.  Sammy caught 54 passes for 1,268 yards and 14 touchdowns during his senior season even though he missed four games with injury.  Several scouts at the US Army All-American practices felt Watkins was the top receiver in attendance.

Bellamy will also bring speed to the Tiger’s offense.  The 5-10, 185 pound back was an Under Armour All-American.  Mike carried the ball 238 times for 2,407 yards and 41 touchdowns this season for Charlotte High.  Last week Bellamy posted off a picture on Facebook of his new haircut that included the word Clemson.

As you can see Tiger Nation already has a lot to celebrate on signing day.  Coach Swinney and coach Morris have the playmakers on the way to make the new spread offense excel.  Tiger Nation you can go ahead and get the party started.  The Tigers will be signing one of their best classes ever on Wednesday.
