Kieboom Starts Season with Bang

By

By Trey McCurry.

Spencer Kieboom had a great series for the Tigers this weekend as they took 2-3 from Eastern Michigan.  Spencer almost reached his 2010 season total in RBI’s in the first three games of 2011 as he had eight RBI’s.

TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with Spencer after Sunday’s 5-1 victory.

On Kevin Brady today:

When Brady has it going, he has it going. He just pounds the zone and did a great job. He did a great job all fall, and I was really impressed with how he did today. We had a good rhythm going. He just filled up the zone and we did what we had to do.

On his weekend (eight RBI after 10 all of last season):

I did not realize I had that many. I need I had a few, but not that many. We worked a lot on situational hitting, just like last year, and I was just lucky to come up with guys in scoring position.

On batting behind Hinson and Miller and the rest of the lineup:

I just go up there with an approach to think up the middle and going the opposite way. We have been going with that approach and I think it has been going well for not just me, but also everyone. We have been doing a lot of hit-and-run and executing really well.

On Coach LeCroy:

He is a great new addition to the team. I like his philosophy of stay short and quick to the ball. He has helped me out with some things like getting my foot down and getting my trigger right.

On the weekend for the team:

I really wish we could have gotten all three this weekend. One run games are something we really pride ourselves on as a team. We had one really solid victory and another good solid win today. All in all, it was a good weekend. I think we learned from our mistakes yesterday and we just have to move on from there. Don’t dwell on the past, but don’t forget it either.
