Offers Flood in for Destefano

Tuesday is a day Patrick Destefano will not soon forget as offers from four major football programs came in for one of the nation’s top offensive line recruits.  The first offer came Tuesday morning at school.

“I’m blessed today.  Georgia was the first offer this morning.  I came in and got my workout in before first period.  My coach told me to come back to the office and call Georgia and they offered,” said Destefano.

The offers kept coming later in the day.

“After school I went and worked out again.  I came home and saw on Facebook that I needed to call coach Muschamp.  I have been communicating with coach Verducci the past few weeks on Facebook,” said Destefano.  Penn State and Virginia Tech also offered on Tuesday.

What did Florida’s new head coach have to say to the Dorman High standout?

“Coach Muschamp told me he liked what he saw on film and what he heard about my character.  He said he hopes I will come down for a visit.  I plan to go down soon,” replied Destefano.

The state’s top offensive lineman feels blessed to have so many offers.

“It is a huge honor.  I have 19 offers now.  The problem is now there is now wrong choice.  I can justify going to any of the schools that have offered.  I am stumped.  These new additions make the decision even harder,” said Destefano.

Patrick has been a frequent visitor to Clemson and another visit is planned for this weekend.

“I am going to try to make it to Clemson’s Junior Day on Saturday.  I have some tentative plans, but I won’t know for sure until Thursday,” said Destefano.

The visit plans got shuffled on Tuesday with the addition of four new offers.

“I had visits planned for March to Tennessee and Notre Dame.  Now I am going to have to add Florida and Georgia.  I also need to fit visits in to Virginia, Florida State and Arkansas,” said Destefano.

The frequent visits are difficult as the family has to pay for all of the expense of the unofficial visits.

“Finances are tight and it is hard on my parents to have to pay for all of these official visits.  I have been trying to help my parents out,” said Destefano.

With the addition of the new offers the decision timing has changed.  A decision had been planned for April or May.

“Let’s move that back to November or December.  I do know that I am on a strict schedule since I am graduating early.  This time next year I will be getting ready for spring practice at college,” said Destefano.

When asked about his current leaders Destefano responded, “Let’s just say I have 18 right now.”
