Lawson: "It was time"

Sunday Shaq Lawson became the second commitment for Clemson’s class of 2012.  How did the state’s top defensive end let the Clemson staff know he was ready to make a verbal commitment?

“I called Dabo and told him I wanted to be a Tiger.  He was very happy.  He said he was glad to have me on board,” replied Lawson.

Saturday Shaq attended Clemson’s Junior Day and started to think about making a commitment to the Tigers.

“I talked with Dabo Saturday at Junior Day.  We talked about me committing.  I told him I wanted to go home and think about it,” said Lawson.

After sleeping on his decision the Daniel standout felt like he was ready to be a Tiger.

“I went home and thought about it.  I decided it was time.  I have liked Clemson for a long time,” said Lawson.

Coach Hobby was glad to have Shaq on board.

“He told me he would love to have me at Clemson,” said Lawson.

How firm is Shaq’s commitment to the Tigers?

“I am 100 percent,” replied Lawson.
