TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with two of Friday’s stars Jeff Schaus and Jonathan Meyer after the Tigers game 1 victory over Duke.
Jeff Schaus:
On the team’s performance tonight:
I think we did pretty well. We were pretty aggressive and some balls started to fall. It has been a tough few games, so it feels good to get some stuff to fall. It was just a matter of time and we just had to keep swinging.
On ending the losing streak:
You just have to forget about it. It is in the past. We are excited about tomorrow. We know we have a good team so we just have to all play up to our potential.
On the job Meyer did out of the bullpen:
It was huge. He came out and threw strikes. He was able to get us off the field quick and let us get back to the plate to get some at-bats. It is great to play defense behind someone like that.
Jonathan Meyer:
On his performance tonight out of the bullpen:
I came out and felt like I had good command of both my off-speed stuff and my fastball. I was hitting the outside corner when I needed and then brining it in when I needed. It helps the team out when we have a strong performance from anyone in the bullpen. We have had a couple of injuries early and anytime anyone comes in and gets a few innings helps everyone out. It keeps the rest of the bullpen fresh for the rest of the weekend.
On what the win means to the team:
It was a different dugout and a different feeling. Right out of the gate, we got two runs. I don’t think we had scored in the first inning during the losing streak. Everybody was in the game and having fun.
