The Tigers lost DeAndre McDaniels, Marcus Gilchrist, and Byron Maxwell, three of the starting defensive backs to the draft. So it is no secret that they are looking to add a lot of top talent to the secondary. Rhaheim Ledbetter, the star safety from Crest High School (NC), has been a highly rated prospect since his freshman year. He is only 5’11” 190 lbs., but he is a big time hitter.
How has the recruiting process gone for the North Carolina Safety?
“It’s going pretty good, I have 7 or 8 scholarships so far,” said Ledbetter. “I don’t have any favorites to this point.”
Ledbetter holds offers from Clemson along with other top programs like Auburn, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
What does he like about Clemson?
“I like the coaching staff and really just like the whole school, period,” said Ledbetter.
What has been the Clemson coaches’ message to the top safety?
“The coaches have told me that they really want me at Clemson, and that it would be a nice place for me to play,” said Ledbetter.
The Clemson staff is hoping they can get Ledbetter on campus this summer. The Crest defensive back has not made any plans for visits to this point.
“I have been to Clemson, but I went there last summer for camp but that was pretty much it.”
Ledbetter said his decision will come down many things but listed academics, fan base as two important factors. He and his high school teammate, Jonathan Bullard another Clemson recruit, are working together to find the best schools and may be a tandem that end up at the same college program.
