There is no question that Chad Morris is eagerly looking to bring in a 2012 quarterback that he feels can fit into his system. One player he has given a lot of attention is St. Joseph’s (NY) quarterback Chad Kelly. Morris has already been out twice to New York to see him. Kelly says he and Morris have a very good relationship.
“We talk 2 to 3 times a day. We talk about everything. Just about life, my parents, school, his wife and kids,” said Kelly. “I was the first quarterback he offered when he got to Clemson. I love talking to him.”
What does Kelly think about Clemson and his visit there?
“I would probably say Clemson was the best visit that we have taken. All the people were so hospitable. Everyone was so nice and grateful that I was there,” said Kelly.
The 6’3” 200 lbs. quarterback says he doesn’t have favorites but there are a few schools at the top of his list, is Clemson one of them?
“Oh yeah, definitely they are at the top of my list with a few other. I have 13 offers I am high on some other schools like Florida State, Alabama, Purdue, Michigan State and others that are just getting my tape and coming to see me.”
Kelly threw for 2167 yards and 22 touchdowns and ran for another 1057 yards and 15 touchdowns. What are the most important things for him when he looks at schools?
“The atmosphere is really important,” said Kelly. “I am going to be away from my parents, so I want a great coaching staff, community, and a school with strong academics.”
The dual-threat quarterback says that he plans to narrow down schools over the next two months. He said he hopes to make it out to camp at Clemson, Florida State or Alabama this summer.
