Clemson, SC – Clemson dominated Davidson 19-0 Tuesday night at Doug Kingsmore.  The Tigers scored the 19 runs on 23 hits including at least two hits in every inning.

The two team waited out two rain delays that totaled over three hours and finished the game just after 1 AM.

Kevin Pohle started for the Tigers and earned his fifth win of the season.  Pohle went five innings only giving up six hits and no runs.

Will Lamb was perfect on the night going 5-5 with three RBIs.  Richie Shaffer and Chris Epps both homered.  Epps was 4-6 on the night and just missed the cycle.  Chris needed a double in his last at bat to get the cycle.  In his final at bat he reached second, but an error by the right fielder allowed him to stretch the single to second.

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first.  John Hinson singled up the middle to start the inning.  Phil Pohl walked and then stole second with Hinson stealing third.  Brad Miller grounded out to second scoring Hinson.  Will Lamb singled to right scoring Pohl.  Lamb was thrown out at second trying to steal.  Richie Shaffer walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch.  Jeff Schaus singled to center scoring Shaffer.  Chris Epps singled to advance Shaffer to third.  Spencer Kieboom walked to load the bases.  The second rain delay hit with the bases loaded and two outs.  After a two hour seven minute delay Jason Stolz grounded out to end the inning.

Clemson did more damage in the second with two outs.  Brad Miller was hit by a pitch with two outs.  Will Lamb followed with a single down the left field line to advance Miller to third.  Richie Shaffer hit a homerun to left field to put the Tigers up 6-0 after two.

Chris Epps hit a solo homerun to right center to leadoff the third inning.

The Tigers added some insurance in the fourth inning.  With one out Will Lamb singled to right.  Richie Shaffer singled to left.  Jeff Schaus singled up the middle scoring Lamb.  Chris Epps tripled to right scoring Shaffer and Schaus.  Spencer Kieboom singled to right scoring Epps.  After four the Tigers led 11-0.

In the fifth inning Clemson plated another run.  Steve Wilkerson singled to right.  Will Lamb singled to right.  Jon McGibbon hit a sacrifice fly to score Wilkerson.

Kevin Brady made his first appearance since March 6 when he came in to pitch the sixth inning.  Brady’s first pitch was clocked at 94 mph.  Most of his other pitches were clocked in the 90’s.  Kevin set the Wildcats down in order including a strikeout of the third out.

After the first three batters walked in the sixth inning Will Lamb smoked a double down the left field line to score two more.  Jon McGibbon followed with a single to make the score 16-0.

The Tigers added two more runs thanks to a two-out error in the seventh to make the score 18-0.  Chris Epps singled in the eight to drive in the 19th run.
