Clemson, led by 18th-year Head Coach Jack Leggett, is making their 36th NCAA Tournament appearance. The Tigers are 41-18 (17-13 ACC) on the season including a 26-7 record at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Clemson is coming off a 2-1 showing in the ACC Tournament and has won 27 of its last 33 games. The Tigers are ranked 12th by USA Today/ESPN, 14th by Baseball America, and 19th by Collegiate Baseball.

Clemson is making its 36th appearance in the NCAA Tournament dating back to 1947. The Tigers have been to the NCAA Tournament every year since 1987 except one (2008), meaning this is Clemson’s 24th trip in the last 25 years. Clemson has appeared in nine super regionals (dating back to 1999) and 12 College World Series. Last season, the Tigers won the Auburn Regional and Clemson Super Regional to advance to the College World Series. In Auburn, Clemson defeated Southern Miss before winning two of three games against host Auburn. In the super regional, the Tigers defeated Alabama two games to one to advance to the College World Series. While in Omaha, Clemson defeated Arizona State and Oklahoma before dropping two games to eventual national champion South Carolina. 

On the season, the Tigers are hitting .319 as a team with 120 doubles, 16 triples, 43 homers, 101 stolen bases, 43 hit-by-pitches, 280 walks, and 355 strikeouts while averaging 7.1 runs per game. ACC Player-of-the-Year Brad Miller leads Clemson at the plate. The junior is batting .419 with 11 doubles, three triples, five homers, 38 walks, 46 RBI, and is tied for the team lead with 21 stolen bases. Junior Will Lamb is hitting .344 with 11 doubles, three triples, two homers, and 13 stolen bases, while junior Phil Pohl is batting .329 with 19 doubles, four homers, and 32 RBI. Senior Jeff Schaus is hitting .326 with 19 doubles, two triples, 37 walks, and 42 RBI while redshirt junior John Hinson is batting .320 with 11 doubles, three triples, seven homers, and is tied for the team lead with 21 stolen bases. Sophomore Richie Shaffer is batting .311 with 14 doubles, two triples, and leads the team in homers (11), RBI (50), walks (40), and runs (60) while sophomore Spencer Kieboom is batting .295 with 21 walks, 21 runs, and 27 RBI. Senior Chris Epps has 10 homers and 10 stolen bases while junior Jason Stolz has a team-high 14 sacrifices and eight stolen bases. 

The Clemson pitching staff has a 3.12 ERA this season allowing 446 hits (.231 opponents’ batting average) and 174 walks against 455 strikeouts in 522.2 innings. Junior David Haselden (5-1 with three saves) has a 2.12 ERA in 72.1 innings over 23 appearances while graduate Justin Sarratt (7-2 with a 2.40 ERA) leads the team in wins and has only 13 walks against 60 strikeouts in a team-high 75.0 innings. Sophomore Jonathan Meyer (5-2 with a save) has 63 strikeouts and a 3.31 ERA in 23 appearances (seven starts) while sophomore Dominic Leone (6-2 with a 3.38 ERA) leads the team with 68 strikeouts in 61.1 innings. Freshman Kevin Pohle (5-1) has a 1.19 ERA in 30.1 innings over 15 appearances (two starts) while junior Scott Weismann (3-4) is the team’s closer with seven saves and 49 strikeouts in 54.2 innings. Redshirt senior Alex Frederick has three saves and has made 24 appearances while redshirt sophomore Joseph Moorefield has also made 24 appearances.
