Chad Kelly wasn’t the only top quarterback prospect at the Dabo Swinney camp Wednesday morning. 2013 quarterback Johnathon McCrary also attended the morning session. McCrary’s father and cousin, who attended Clemson, also made the trip.
“I really liked it. I liked how things were run at the camp. I really liked the facilities. I liked meeting coach Swinney and coach Morris. I also liked seeing where I would practice if I went to Clemson,” said McCrary.
Coach Swinney and coach Morris had a message for the prize recruit.
“They told me how they enjoyed seeing me. They want me to come back in the fall. They wanted to know if I was interested in Clemson. I told them I was very interested,” said McCrary.
What did the rising junior think of coach Morris and the drills at Wednesday’s camp session?
“It was pretty good. All of us have room for improvement. Most of what he went over is stuff I already learned,” replied McCrary.
When asked about his top schools, McCrary responded, “Clemson, Georgia, Florida State, Oregon, Alabama, Tennessee, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas.”
During his sophomore season at Cedar Grove Johnathan put up huge numbers.
“I completed 68 percent of my passes. I passed for 3,374 yards and 24 touchdowns. I rushed for 700 yards and ten touchdowns,” said McCrary.
Don’t expect an early decision from the Georgia standout.
“I am going to make my decision after my first semester of my senior year,” said McCrary.
Camp visits to Florida State and Alabama are on tap for this summer.
