Clemson verbal commitment Travis Blanks out of Tallahassee, FL is doing a diary with The Clemson Insider. In this edition Travis discusses his trip to Oregon and much more!
Today I’m flying out to Portland, Oregon for the Nike Football The Opening program with my friend T.J. Davis, a top cornerback prospect who I’ve known since junior high school. After a 2-hour delay in Atlanta, I’m very excited to get to Portland and start competing.
The Opening is a five-day event in which all of the most elite high school prospects from around the country will gather together and will train and be coached by Nike trainers and also compete in 7 on 7 tournaments.
This weekend will be my first time playing on a nationally televised station which is definitely exciting but also something that I’m going to have to get used to seeing I will be playing on television every Saturday in Death Valley for the next four years. Being invited to participate in “The Opening” is a great opportunity for me and I am definitely excited to meet other top prospects and also spend time with the other Clemson commitments that will also be participating in the event.
Clemson commits Chad Kelly, Germone Hopper, Jay Guillermo and T.J. Burrell will also be attending The Opening starting today and I’m very excited to see them and see what they can do. I don’t think that other recruits who are considering Clemson will be influenced after attending this event and seeing what a talented recruiting class Clemson has coming in 2012 to commit to Clemson also unless they have visited the campus and have met the coaches and players themselves. The campus and the people at Clemson are definitely the selling point for the university.
If you would like to watch Travis and his fellow Tigers commitments participate in The Opening, tune into ESPNU on Thursday evening at 9:00 P.M.
