TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with Clemson running back Andre Ellington following Wednesday night’s practice.
How did it feel to get the full pads on for the first day?
“It felt great. A lot of the guys flew around today. We did a lot of great things today, but there are still some things we have to cleanup for tomorrow,” said Ellington.
It was Andre’s first day in pads since his injury. Were there any nerves going out there into contact?
“Not at all. Yesterday we banged around pretty good on the inside drills. A couple of plays the linemen came down, I mean the safeties came down and hatted me up pretty good. Today was a pretty good day. I wouldnt’ say any nerves,” said Ellington.
How did Tajh look out there today?
“Man he is getting better and better every day. He is starting to understand more and not just understand it but he is bringing everyone else along too. He is getting everyone else better as he gets better so he is doing a great job out there,” said Ellington.
How is Mike (Bellamy) doing?
“He is doing outstanding. He is catching on to the offense pretty good. He is working hard each day. He is focusing a lot better each day so that is a good thing,” said Ellington.
With summer school over the Tigers will be doing nothing but football for the next two weeks. What do they need to accomplish over that time?
“We can’t take any days for granted. Just come out with the mentality each day to get better and to stay focused. As a team, not just as a position,” said Ellington.
How comfortable is Andre with the new offense?
“I am starting to get more and more comfortable each day. I am starting to understand more as I watch more film each day. I am just trying to get better. It is a great offense to learn. I am just trying to go out there and execute,” said Ellington.
