Filling in the Blanks - Focused on Season

By Travis Blanks.

Clemson verbal commitment, Travis Blanks, the highest ranked player in the Tiger’s 2012 recruiting class, is doing a diary with In this entry, Travis talks about his focus on his senior season and his plans to enroll early at Clemson.

School has started already so my schedule has gotten even more hectic. Because I’m planning on graduating in December and enrolling at Clemson in January I’m taking 7 classes to finish out my degree. My last first game of my high school career is on Friday and I couldn’t be more excited to play under the lights again. My personal goal for this season would have to be to win a state championship and improve our record; something that I think is definitely possible.

I’ve been a starter on our football team since my freshman year, and so now that I’m a senior nothing has really changed as far as being a team leader. I’ve always been a vocal leader on my team and have led by example because of my experience as a starter so I’m going to continue to be the person that I am this year and hopefully lead my team to a state title.

I haven’t had a chance to read about how Clemson’s fall camp is going, mainly because I’m trying to focus 100% on my high school team and doing whatever I can to help them win football games. Once it’s time for me to go to Clemson and leave high school behind, that’s when my focus will shift to Clemson and what I can do to help the Tigers win. But right now, instead of reading about Clemson and my mind wandering, I put my all into this year’s season and improving my own game.

Being in the public eye doesn’t bother me too badly, mainly because I’m not the type of person to post an inappropriate status on Facebook or say something on Twitter that the media or fans could misconstrue.

I’m not big into watching the NFL or trying to model his play after a certain player’s style of play, instead I am unique and my own player and play the game of football the way I feel like it should be played.
