Hawkins - Defense Almost Ready

Corico Hawkins will lead the defense from the MIKE position again in 2011.  TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with Hawkins after Saturday’s scrimmage.

“I think we did a lot of good things today.  We just keep progressing from the first practice until today.  We don’t have a lot of things to correct, just some little things.  I think we should have tackled better as a group.  We are deep into camp now so legs are tired,” said Hawkins.

How are the true freshmen doing at linebacker?

“Those guys are picking it up well.  Like I said they did a great job recruiting these young men.  Those guys are smart.  Comparing them to me when I came in I didn’t know nothing.  They are doing well picking up the defense.  They are learning more every day,” said Hawkins.

Playing against the up tempo offense every day is helping Corico become a better player.

“I think I am becomming a better player in two ways, one conditioning and two being able to think quicker,” said Hawkins.
