Well our first game of the season didn’t go as well as we’d hoped; we lost to Aquinas 40-20. A lot of mistakes such as dropped balls and misreads led to our loss, we ended up spending 4 hours watching film on just the first half of the game. I believe our loss has pulled the team together though, because no one wants to lose like that again so we’re working even harder to prepare for our game this weekend.
Personally, I had an okay game, I was 15-26 passing for 167 yards and I rushed the ball 10 times for 85 yards.
Right now, our team is traveling to New York City to face off against Monsignor Farrell, a really good team that will definitely test us but I think our loss last week will give us motivation going into Saturday.
I decided earlier this month that I would play in the Under Armor All American Bowl and I’m very blessed to have been given the opportunity to play football with some of the best players in the nation. I know that playing in the Under Armor game will give me an idea of what it will be like playing at Clemson against great competition.
So far I know that Clemson commits Jay Guillermo and Patrick DeStefano will also be participating in the Under Armor game and I’m very excited to continue to get to know them. I made the decision to play in the Under Armor game mainly because you are allowed to bring your high school coach with you and I know my coach is very excited to get the chance to learn from other coaches.
After my game versus Aquinas last weekend it was already halftime at the Clemson game and when I looked at the score with Troy leading Clemson 16-13 I didn’t know what was going on. But then after halftime Clemson lit up the scoreboard and they played great.
I talked to Coach Morris after the game on Saturday and we talked about their game and how Tajh settled down after halftime and how quickly this offense can get points on the board. After watching that game, I’m very excited to get down to Clemson and play with such great talent. Guys like Sammy Watkins and Mike Bellamy, you just have to get the ball into their hands and they’ll make the quarterback’s job so easy. I’m anxious to see what Clemson can do this season with their new offense and great play makers.
