Auburn Goes Overtime to Beat Clemson

The last two times Clemson and Auburn have met the games have gone to overtime.  In 2010 Auburn came back from a 17-0 deficit and defeated Clemson 27-24.  In 2007 the two teams met in Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Bowl with Auburn winning 23-20 in overtime.

Nation’s Longest Win Streak

Auburn comes to Death Valley with the nation’s longest win streak that stands at 17 games.  Over those 17 games Auburn has averaged 41 points per game.

Auburn has scored more than 30 points in 18-29 games in the Gene Chizik era.

Chizik Coached at Clemson

Gene Chizik was a graduate assistant at Clemson in 1988-89 under head coach Danny Ford.  The Tigers finished 10-2 both seasons.

Clemson verse National Champs

When Auburn arrives in Death Valley Saturday it will be the third time the national champs have visits Clemson.  The Tigers are 2-0 against the defending national champs when they travel to Tigertown.  In 1991 Clemson defeated defending champs Georgia Tech 9-7.  In 1981 Clemson defeated defending champs Georgia 13-3 and went on to win the national championship.

In week one Clemson and Auburn combined to play 25 true freshmen.  Clemson played 12 and Auburn 13. 

37 Tigers Ready for Rematch

Clemson returns 37 players that battled Auburn last season.

Boyd Off to Great Start

Tajh Boyd has picked up wins in his first two starts with the Tigers.  He is the first quarterback to do that since Cullen Harper went 4-0.  Tajh has six touchdowns, three in each of his first two starts.  Tajh is only the second Clemson quarterback to throw for at least three touchdowns in each of his first two starts.  The other quarterback is Charlie Whitehurst.
